Wrapping Up 2021 With a Regional Briefing & Tour
On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, EAGB premiered a one-hour virtual program, “Not Your Average Regional Briefing: A (virtual) Tour of Greater Baltimore.” The program, free of charge, presented a compendium of speakers who provided a glimpse into the economic development assets of the Greater Baltimore region.
The elected leaders of our seven jurisdictions – Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Harford, Howard counties and Baltimore City – each spoke about the challenges, successes and future opportunities of their jurisdiction. Dr. Jay Perman, Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, spoke about the Region’s strong network of educational institutions that provide the workforce and talent needed to support our growth industry sectors. Dr. Perman was followed by several “subject matter experts” who spoke about the opportunities in the Region that are catalysts for their work.
Finally, EAGB board chair and CEO of CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield Brian Pieninck was joined by Calvin Butler, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Exelon and GBC board chair, for a dialogue about Greater Baltimore’s richness of assets. They discussed the opportunity for business leadership to galvanize stakeholders throughout the Region around an action agenda that will deliver “future ready” businesses and individuals ready to maximize their potential for professional and/or personal fulfillment.
Attendees of the Briefing & Tour included individuals from within the Region and across the state, as well as some from outside of Maryland. Don’t miss the results of several polls from the event in this month’s Spotlight section to learn a few ‘fun facts’ about those listening in with us on December 8.
As we close out 2021 and head into 2022, Future Ready is our mantra. In collaboration with our economic development partners and our Board, we will push forward with our marketing platform built on a robust, results-oriented economic development agenda that is inclusive, equitable and impactful. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
