The U.S. Army Research (ARL), UMD, and UMBC Launch $68M Robotics and AI Partnership

The U.S. Army Research (ARL), University of Maryland, College Park and University of Maryland, Baltimore County are partnering to develop new artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous technologies. With it’s largest single-site presence at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford County, the ARL is investing $68M in funding to support new technologies that will assist soldiers and first responders in operating more safely and efficiently in dangerous situations. Under the five-year agreement, a diverse group of researchers from UMD and UMBC will collaborate to develop new generations of technologies. Researchers include specialists in engineering, robotics, computer science, operations research, cybersecurity and more. Via Baltimore Business Journal.
