Duncan Black and Alonzo Decker opened Black & Decker Manufacturing Company in Greater Baltimore and began work on designing the world’s first portable power tool. In 2009, Black and Decker merged with Stanley Works, an American hardware manufacturer - now called Stanley Black & Decker.
