Port Administration Inks Deal with Finnish Company to Import More Forest Products through Baltimore

Another great win for the Port! The Maryland Port Administration (MPA), Finland Metsä Group, and the Baltimore Forest Products Terminal have signed a three-year contract starting Jan. 1 for Metsä to lease 797,980 sf of warehouse space and move all of its mid-Atlantic operations to the Port of Baltimore. The MPA projects annual volumes from the deal will include 370K tons of rolled paper often used for packaging in food service, as well as goods used to make cardboard materials and more.“Consolidating operations to a single mid-Atlantic port here in Baltimore allows us to improve our transportation services, reduce costs and enhance our supply chain efforts,” said Dorothy Geyer, supply chain director for Metsä Board Americas Corporation.
