MedStar, CareFirst Announce Partnership to Improve Access to Care
Focused on increasing access to quality care, Greater Baltimore-based health care insurer CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and MedStar Health patient care have announced an innovative partnership focused on positive patient outcomes, rather than traditional payments linked solely to the volume of patient visits. According to The Daily Record, the partnership will be led by management teams at CareFirst and Medstar and includes enhanced technology integration for data sharing, improved patient care experiences, and more. “We applaud MedStar for their leadership in joining with us to help solve one of the most complex problems in the United States economy – helping to reduce the rate of escalations in health care costs, which impact governments, employers and families,” said CareFirst President and CEO, Brian D. Pieninck.
