Maryland Department of Commerce is Connecting Foreign Companies with Incubator Space for a ‘Soft Landing’ in the US
The Maryland Department of Commerce is bolstering a soft landing program that’s designed to give international startups and other medium-sized companies space to explore a potential expansion to the U.S. Maryland’s program was initially started in Greater Baltimore in 2017 through a partnership between Commerce and bwtech@UMBC.“Soft landing programs are an excellent opportunity to recruit international companies to Maryland, and for our local businesses to consider expanding overseas,” said Kelly Schulz, Secretary of the Department of Commerce and EAGB board member. More than a dozen incubators have signed on to provide space for international companies, including Emerging Technology Centers (ETC), Maryland Innovation Center, Towson University’s StarTUp and more.
