Last Mile Education Fund Helps Women Finish STEM Degrees
Striving to bring a more diverse workforce to technology fields, the Last Mile Education Fund is aiming to provide funding for women who are within four semesters of completing an undergraduate degree in tech and engineering. Fiscally sponsored by the Baltimore Digital Harbor Foundation, the fund will provide three types of support, including rapid-response emergency funding, grants for catastrophic expenses or help get to an internship, and tuition scholarships for remaining credits toward degree completion. According to Technical.ly Baltimore, the Fund has distributed $300K in COVID-19 emergency grants to 350 students around the country for tuition, housing, internet and more.
