Governor Hogan Announces $250M "Maryland Strong: Economic Recovery Initiative"
Governor Larry Hogan has announced the "Maryland Strong: Economic Recovery Initiative," a new $250 million relief package to provide assistance to businesses throughout the Greater Baltimore region and state that have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Maryland.gov reports that the initiative is doubling the state’s commitment to emergency economic relief to $500 million through a combination of new and existing programs. Included are a $50M expansion of the Maryland Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Fund, $50M for direct relief for restaurants, $20M to direct relief for Main Street programs, and a $20M expansion of the COVID-19 Layoff Aversion Fund, among other important programs.
