According to published articles about the subject, the game "Ouija, the Egyptian Luck Board," was coined in 1890 by Helen Peters, a woman known by her family as a spiritual medium. After the game grew in popularity, boards were also produced in Downtown Baltimore and historical records show that demand was steady with factories opening for its fabrication first on South Charles Street and then in Little Italy.
