Did you know that the first dental school in the world was founded in Baltimore? In 1840 the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery was chartered by the General Assembly of Maryland and was the birthplace of the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. It is known as the first dental college in the world. The College is still in existence today and is part of University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSD) five professional graduate level schools.
