County Executive Calvin Ball Announces Innovative HoCo Harvest Program Providing Venison to Local Food Bank

Backed by $17K in CARES funding, Howard County Executive and EAGB board member Calvin Ball has announced the launch of the new “HoCo Harvest Program.” Through a partnership of the Howard Soil Conservation District and Howard County Economic Development Authority (EDA), the new pilot program will provide venison meat donated by local deer hunters and processed by three local businesses to the Howard County Food Bank. “This program achieves two goals – reducing our deer population and providing quality food to our local families in need. This innovative program would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of our partners, and we’re grateful to have such an effective team in place to make this work,” said County Executive Ball.
