Top-Performing Port of Baltimore Exhibits Excellence Despite the Pandemic

AUGUST 2021 GREATER PERSPECTIVE

The onset of the pandemic in 2020 resulted in a significant drop in cargo volume in almost all major U.S. ports due to the near total shutdown of business from Europe and Asia and the major disruption in the domestic and international supply chains. Despite the pandemic’s global impact on shipping, The Port of Baltimore finished 2020 on very strong footing with general cargo numbers increasing year-over-year. Theses results were not an accident - the rapid increase in e-commerce during the pandemic and Greater Baltimore’s significant locational advantages for the logistics industry were major catalysts for this increase. And, there's even more good news -

Learn more about the premier East Coast gateway that is The Port of Baltimore.

  • The expansion of the California-based clothing and apparel company Color Image's Alo Yoga and BELLA+CANVAS brands to Cecil County in a customized distribution center supports the growth of retail operations.

  • The Container Store, Inc. occupies a 600,000 sf distribution center built and leased in 2018 at the Eastgate 95 Industrial Park in Perryman, Harford County.
