$466M Howard Street Tunnel Project Officially Begins Construction
Big news for the Region’s logistics industry! Construction has officially begun on the long-awaited improvements to Baltimore City’s Howard Street Tunnel. Tunnel expansion will allow double-stacked rail travel to and from the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore and relieves an East Coast rail bottleneck. The project is significant as the Port of Baltimore takes advantage of its prime location and ability to accommodate some of the world’s largest shipping vessels. “This is an absolute game changer, not just for Maryland, for the entire region,” said Gov. Larry Hogan.
